Kernel News and How To

I’ve thought of a few like Chris and Pat, but I need to Compile a list of gender neutral names to use as pen names. I know there are some names that *could* go either way but usually don’t (Stacy is almost always a girl, for instance, even though there are a few men named Stacy), but I’m looking for names where the reader really wouldn’t know whether the author was a man or a woman.

I’m posting this in baby names because I figure the people who post here really have thought about names recently.

If you were looking for a gender neutral pseudonym try initials, eg. R.L Stine, J.P Morgan. They don’t tell your gender and always add some note of mystery.

Relatively Gender Neutral names:

Hayden
Morgan
Kaedan
Teagan
Carson
Alex
Dylan
Dakota
Hunter
Jordan
Casey
Riley
Taylor

Put the turn around of switching boys for girls names on your side. There’s lot of names that cross gender lines.

Also surnames used as first names like Sullivan, Finnegan and Campbell would work. Plus city names are usually gender neutral: Paris (Paris Hilton vs. Paris Latsis), London, Boston, Brooklyn.

I think Alex and Nicky work the best. I have family members and friends with both these names, of differing genders. The nns are just from different shortened first names.

Nicky: Nicole, Nicholas
Alex: Alexandra, Alexander, Allison, Alec
