HELP using UBUNTU Live CD?

I downloaded and tried to boot from the Ubuntu Live CD.

The installation just stopped and these were the last several lines:

"ACPI: looking for DSDT in Initrd… not found!
Enabling IO-APIC IRQs
…Timer: vector=0×31 pin 1=0 pin 2=-1
…MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC
…trying to setup timer (IRQ0) through the 8259A… failed

kernel panic – not syncing: IOAPIC+timer doesn’t work!"

Try the install with the noapic option deselected. Press F6 in the main installation menu (after you boot the computer from the CD-ROM but before it starts to boot into the live session — where the default highlighted option reads "Start or install Ubuntu").

Add to the boot cycle:
noapic acpi=off

This should switch off the acpi. If this helps, great. If not, try F1 at the main installation screen for more documentation or go to the Ubuntu Forums at ubuntuforums.org. Either way, know that you are not alone:
