Kernel Bench

Kernel News and How To

I am having a source code of an operating system ( with all kernel files and drivers and other software codes)
I want make its installable version by installing it through cd
by making installation cd
Please reply me
Its very urgent

Do it – the way all OS’s do it.

Create a bootable cd or dvd – with a minimum OS – capable of copying the files into place… and creating a "bootstrap" on the hard drive.

If you’re going to be doing HARDWARE INDEPENDENT drivers – you’re going to have to come up with some process like microsoft’s "HAL.EXE" – where you interrogate the devices and supply the MINI-DRIVERS for them.

As a person who has actually participated in a team which built OS’s – It’s a LOT MORE COMPLICATED than it may seem on the surface.

However… break the task into SMALL BITES – and deal with them one by one… until they’re all done.

Good luck.
